Dennis Black

    Dennis is one of the original founding partners of the firm. Born in New York and educated in the East, he graduated summa cum laude from Fordham College where he was selected to Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year before obtaining his law degree from Yale Law School in 1970. Dennis soon discovered the lure of the West and moved to Oregon in the early 70's to launch his private practice. Over the next 30 years he has developed an outstanding reputation for standing up for the rights of individuals. He is licensed to practice law in California and Oregon and has been an effective advocate for hundreds of people living in Southern Oregon and Northern California. When not fighting for your best interest, Dennis can be found at home in Ashland with his large and loving family.
     Dennis was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. He was inducted during a ceremony before an audience of 1200 persons. The ceremony was performed in New York, New York. Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship. Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province.

Bob Chapman
Specialty: Workers' Compensation

   
Bob was born in Wyoming, but spent much of his youth traveling overseas since his dad was in the U.S. foreign service. He migrated to Oregon in the late 60's and entered the University of Oregon. He received his law degree from Oregon in 1974 and was admitted to the bar that same year. Bob has spent more than 25 years helping hundreds of people in Southern Oregon get the compensation they deserve from insurance companies. In his spare time, Bob can be found mountain biking, or working on his growing collection of old cars.

Bob Webber
Specialty: Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability

    Born in New York, Bob moved to Oregon as a child where he discovered his early passion for hunting, rafting, fishing and skiing. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Linfield College in 1966, he served two years in the U.S. Army. He return to college in 1969 to earn his law degree from Willamette University. Upon graduation, he served as Deputy District Attorney in Josephine County before entering private practice in 1974. Bob is a well-known outdoor enthusiast and is a leader in hunter right issues in Oregon.

Memberships: Oregon State Bar, Oregon Workers' Compensation Attorneys (OWCA), National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives (NOSSCR). All Oregon State Courts, Federal District Court for the District of Oregon, United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Art Stevens
Specialty: Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability

    Born in Idaho, raised in Prescott, Arizona, Art attended school in France before receiving his undergraduate degree from Whitman College in 1978. Following a stint as a teaching assistant at USC, he received his law degree from The Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in 1984. Art started his legal career as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oregon's Insurance Fund (SAIF). This experience led Art to change hats and go into private practice representing injured and disabled people who have an uphill fight against the well funded insurance industry. He has represented hundreds of Oregonians whose claims have been denied or improperly processed. Art is an avid tennis player and enjoys homebuilding, theatre and travel. His greatest joy is being with his three daughters, Alissa, Chloe and Jenna.

Tom Petersen
Specialty: Personal Injury Law

   Tom comes to the firm with a decade of success in personal injury law. He earned his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1981. While there, he earned awards for outstanding study in the areas of Forensic Science and Federal Courts. He has appeared before the California Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals, and Federal District Courts of California and Oregon. As a district attorney, public defender and private attorney, Mr. Petersen has tried hundreds of cases and now specializes in the practice of personal injury law. He is devoted to helping clients resolve their legal problems, whether in or out of court. Tom enjoys family life with his wife and children.

Rick Lundblade
Specialty: Personal Injury Law, Insurance Law

    Rick has been a member of the Black, Chapman, Webber & Stevens team since 2001 and became a partner in 2005. Born in Eureka, California, Rick received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1985. He attended Stanford on a baseball scholarship and, at the culmination of his collegiate career, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Pac-10 Conference in 1985. He thereafter pursued a career in professional baseball. Rick played professionally for six seasons for the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles organizations, reaching the highest level of the minor leagues prior to retiring in 1990. He later pursued and received his law degree from Willamette University School of Law in 1996.

Rick’s significant law credentials include serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oregon, working as an insurance defense attorney representing insurance companies and their insureds with the firm of Frohnmayer, Deatherage, Pratt, Jamieson, Clarke & Moore, and then changing hats to pursue personal injury work for plaintiffs for all of the right reasons – to help people in need. His prior experience as an insurance attorney is paramount in his ability to knowledgeably serve his injured and disabled clients. He thrives on the challenges involved in helping clients with their claims and is completely committed to ensuring each claim is resolved in the best and most thorough manner.

Rick also enjoys a wonderful family life with his wife, Carla, and two children, Gaige and Derrick. In addition, he enjoys snowboarding, water skiing, dancing and an occasional good round of golf.
